Killing Eve’s Pasta Scene Was Filmed in a Michelin-Starred London Restaurant

The one year old BBC TV Show, Killing Eve is a huge success among the British and American audience. It’s plot is something else, involving a security services operative who fantasises about being a spy and a talented serial killer. The TV show revolves around the two of them playing cat and mouse, with surprising turning points, smart humor and addictive character personalities.

Season 2 of Killing Eve, which first aired on the 7th of April of this year in the United States, was filmed in numerous different cafes and restaurants around London. These locations include the Michelin starred restaurant City Social, located within the iconic skyscraper, Tower 42.

The scene in which Killing Eve appeared in London restaurant City Social was quite fitting to the dark atmosphere of the Michelin star restaurant which features art deco and a large London skyline backdrop. Serial Killer Villanelle, (Jodie Comer) playing an undercover recovering alcoholic named “Billie”, is seen seated at a table opposite another psychopath of his own type, Peel, played by Henry Lloyd Hughes.

As Jodie Comer was in the midst of the scene, focused on playing out this undercover character just right, she found herself choking almost to death on her plate of pasta while trying to eat it in a “very grotesque” way, according to the script.

The actress later tells the story during a Q&A on EW: “She’s trying to prove a point about something. She’s playing it up, being her usual childish self, and the pasta was extremely dry. And it was extremely thick. I was shoveling it in, and then it just shot down my throat and then I was full-on choking. They must have it on camera — a medic came in and managed to get it out, but my life definitely flashed before me…. I just remember being opposite the other actor and looking at him, and he thought I was making a weird acting choice. So yeah, it’s ruined pasta for me completely.”

Despite this incident, Jodie Comer is able to laugh about it now, and her brother even threw in a daring comment of his own: “I love this. Of all the things that could have killed Villanelle, it was a mouthful of pasta”.

Ever since the new season aired, City social has seen an increase in popularity among customers. In fact, many request to be seated at table 11, the table where the scene is believed to have been filmed.
